Colon Cleansing and Weight LossThere was a time when a human’s diet consisted of lean meat, berries, fruits, and vegetables. When this was the case, obesity was virtually unheard of. Today our food choices are many and varied, allowing us to make bad food choices and overeat with ease. There is no question about it; obesity is a serious issue that is linked to many of today’s diseases including heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. To put it simply, weight gain happens when a person consumes more calories than he burns in one day. On average, Americans consume 150 pounds of sugar and 600 cans of soda each year. It is not hard to see how habits like this contribute to weight gain. Granted, not all weight gain is a result of eating too much. Qualities such as genetics and hormones can also contribute to weight gain, but they are not an excuse to throw in the towel and completely ignore a ballooning waistline. Another contributing factor to weight gain is a person’s culture and environment. With fast food and processed foods readily available, these choices are much easier in today’s rushed culture where both parents work outside of the home and everyone is tired at the end of the day. Even when we do make the right food choices, our colons may be so clogged with processed foods that haven’t been moved properly through the colon due to a lack of proper diet and fiber, that our bodies are unable to absorb the nutrients we are trying to put into it. In order to take full advantage of the benefits of a diet makeover, a colon cleansing is imperative. This is because over the years, if you’ve had poor eating habits, impacted waste has built up on your colon walls. Your colon will not be able to fully absorb and process the many vitamins and nutrients that you are now consuming and the full benefits of your diet will not be realized if the healthy food can’t be digested properly. A colon cleansing alone will help many people lose 5-10 pounds immediately, just by getting rid of the excess waste in their bodies. The extra energy that many people report experiencing after a cleanse will also help you have enough energy to add exercise to your daily routine. A colon cleanse should not be done more often than once a year, but it should be done every year in order to maintain the benefits of a healthy colon. Maintaining your colon cleanse is important. It doesn’t help if you cleanse your colon only to continue barraging it with fast food and processed food. Instead, eating high-fiber foods should be a priority to maintain healthy bowel movements and aid in continuing weight loss. Drinking 64 ounces of water a day will also help you lose weight and keep your colon healthy by inducing regular bowel movements. The water will help you feel full so that you don’t overeat, thereby assisting you in your weight loss goals. No matter what your weight loss goals may be, cleansing your colon is a great way to get started. |
